Discord scam running amok

Posted by CBear624 - July 28th, 2024

almost fallen for that " i need your help " scam on Discord

they worded it differently which threw me in

but then they shown the reply and then i immediately blocked them

it was the screenshot of them "accidently" reporting me

so yeah, its the same old scam, just worded differently

it says "i made a big mistake"

so if you get that on your discord, no matter who they are, do not humor them, and block them

It worries me that more and more people are falling for this and its those bastards using people's friends to try and draw them in

Fucking dispicable

Thank you for sharing.

I see a lot of these posts (most aren't as well worded or useful as yours, though). As somebody who does not use Discord due to privacy-concerns: What is there even to 'gain' for attackers?

Also: 'Getting an account stolen' seems like something that would be fixable by resetting a password or spending 2 minutes on writing an email to customer support and then waiting for said support to take action. Is there another angle that I'm missing?

Oh there's something that these guys gain - your account details and they could fool people into giving them their bank accounts, sell private data, there's a lot they can gain from all this - and none of it is a good thing since... well they're committing cybercrimes

From what i can tell if your account is hacked, you're better off making an entirely new account and just try to get everyone back into your friends list, it may be wise to send a customer complaint but that can take forever, you'd just be wasting time when there's someone out there fucking things up on your account

So, basically its better to basically remake your account under a new email, password etc

I have a few people that fallen for this and thats what they did

Those things are always annoying.

and dangerous if you're not careful

@CBear624 Yeah, I fell for a scam like that once and I regret it. Lost a few hundred bucks and I hate myself for it. I've now made it a point to not believe anything said by people on Discord without them being mutual friends or seeing an official email thing from Discord if it has to do with my account being "reported".

Shit, sorry to hear about that

but yeah, we need to be more careful with shit like this going on

You say "don't humor", but I want to troll them so bad

you do you, dont really care how you handle it, just be careful when encountering them
